What the Experts say

There are 4 principal climbing areas:

1. Indoor Bouldering Area

Routes from simple juggy problems to serious overhangs and technical problems. Throughout the winter, we set dry tooling problems in the bouldering room and on the outdoor rock climbing tower.

2. The Main Rock Climbing Arena

This features our 15m high overhanging feature wall. The wall is on hydraulics and can be moved out to 6m overhanging.

Grades are 4+ to 7b, with a variety of top rope and lead lines. Please note our autobelays have been removed owing to a manufacturer recall. There are 2 multi-pitch routes and a number of bolts low down for practicing belay configuration.

3. The Instruction Bay

Features large freeform area with grades 3+ - 6a+. The area features 3 multi-pitch training points, with two full length ‘trad protection’ cracks.

4. The Indoor Ice Climbing Arena

Features 25 lines of varying grades from III-VII/7 (there is no lead climbing in the ice wall so the grades are an approximate of the technical difficulty/steepness). We require all climbers to wear a helmet in the Indoor Ice Arena. Axes must be sharp and fit for purpose with leashes attached.

The centre has security lockers, changing area and showers.

Other Facilties

The café is open year round from 9am-6pm, offering gourmet coffees, Range of Home Baking, Home Made Soups and Light Snacks. Please note, because the café is operated year round we do not allow packed lunches to be eaten in the centre.

Upstairs (above the shop) there is a cosy climbers’ bar - The Bothan, with a range of fester couches, wood burning stove, Climbing Posters/Artifacts. The bar offers a full menu, freshly cooked by our resident chef. A range of real ales, malt whisky and warm regular live music.

Sauna & Steam Room available on request
